Privacy Policy

Orthodox Homepage ("we," "us," or "our") operates www.orthodoxhomepage.com (the "Website") and its associated web and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the Service. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

The Service is intended for an American audience and operates in compliance with applicable United States privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the functionality of the Service.

Information Provided by Third-Party Services:

  • Authentication: We use Auth0 for user authentication. Auth0 may collect your email address, name, or other profile information you provide during login. We receive only the information necessary to authenticate you and enable account features.
  • Payments: We use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe collects and processes your payment information (e.g., card details). We do not store your full payment information on our servers.
  • Location: When you first visit the site (on the homepage or Browse page), your browser will automatically request permission to share your location. If you grant permission, we use Google's reverse-geocoding service to determine your approximate city and state. This city/state result — not raw GPS coordinates — is stored in your browser's localStorage for up to 30 days to pre-fill nearby church and event searches. You can clear or change your stored location at any time using the location picker in the navigation bar, or by clearing your browser's local storage. No location data is sent to or stored on our servers beyond what is required to resolve your coordinates to a city name.

Automatically Collected Information:

  • Usage data, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, may be collected for functionality and analytics, including via Google Analytics (gtag.js).
  • No persistent personal data is stored on our servers beyond what is required for temporary session management.

Local Storage:

  • Certain data (e.g., preferences or session tokens) may be stored temporarily in your web browser's local storage or on your mobile device to support app functionality. This data is not transmitted to or stored on our servers unless necessary for the Service.

We do not collect sensitive personal information unless explicitly required for a specific feature, and even then, only the minimum necessary.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service.
  • Process payments via Stripe.
  • Authenticate users via Auth0.
  • Display maps and location information via Google.
  • Improve the Service and troubleshoot issues.

We share only the minimum information required with third-party providers (Stripe, Auth0, Google) to enable these functions.

3. Data Storage and Retention

We do not store personal information on our servers except temporarily as needed for active sessions or functionality. Any data in local storage is controlled by your browser or device and is not accessible to us.

Third-party providers (Stripe, Auth0, Google) store data according to their own policies.

We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described or as required by law.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

  • With Stripe, Auth0, and Google as described above, limited to the minimum necessary.
  • As required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or legal process.
  • To protect our rights, safety, or property.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no system is completely secure. Third-party services (Stripe, Auth0, Google) use industry-standard security practices.

6. Your Choices

You can:

  • Opt out of location services in your device settings.
  • Clear stored location: Use the location picker in the navigation bar to change or reset your stored city. Stored location data expires automatically after 30 days.
  • Delete local storage data by clearing your browser cache or app data.
  • Contact us to request information about your data or deletion where applicable.

7. Account & Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and any personal data we hold about you. To submit a deletion request, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and the email address associated with your account.

We will process your request within a reasonable timeframe and confirm deletion by reply. Note that certain data held by third-party processors (Auth0, Stripe) must be deleted directly through their respective platforms.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of changes.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party sites or services (e.g., Google Maps). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
